Leading up to the holidays our N2 Home Office is a little crazy. We’re busy wrapping up a tremendous year, but in the midst of our tight timelines we’ve also been busy having fun reveling in holiday cheer and celebrating the spirit of the season by baking cookies for our “Christmas Cookie Chaos” event, prepping for our Christmas bash later this week and even playing some extremely competitive bouts of tactical laser tag to let off a little steam (in the name of team building, of course). It all culminates in shuttering our Home Office doors for a two-week holiday closure. That’s two whole weeks for our team to unwind, enjoy time with their families, wear ugly Christmas sweaters, eat too much food, travel to far off places, watch their favorite holiday movies and whatever else they can squeeze in during this well-deserved break.
Asked during an intense Home Office outing of said tactical laser tag, a few of our team members were polled about what they have planned for the holidays and what their favorite Christmas movie lines were. Here’s what they had to say:
“For the holidays I always host Christmas morning at my house with my family and invite the in-laws to come by to visit. With our son recently turning 3, he is just now getting into Christmas and all that goes on building up to that morning, so we are in the process of setting our own traditions based on those we grew up with for him. Me and my wife disagree about the best Christmas movie … her family are huge fans of A Christmas Story and will watch it all day on Christmas, while I am a fan ofNational Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” – Erich Nickens, Technology Team
“Heading to Savannah to celebrate New Year’s Eve and ‘Bye Buddy, I hope you find your dad’ from Elf is my favorite line.” – Suzanne Baker, Human Resources Team
“Did anyone claim, ‘You’ll shoot your eye out’ from A Christmas Story? Because that’s mine.” – Ryan Cantor, Technology Team
“Over the holidays I will be traveling to St. Augustine Florida to spend time with my family. They light up the entire city, it is gorgeous. I will also be traveling to Charlotte the week after Christmas to see my best friend. It is great to have enough time off to do both! As for my favorite line from a Christmas movie, I think I have to go with “Fragile” pronounced fragee-ley from A Christmas Story. I literally say that every time I read the word fragile on a package.” – Tina Parks, Technology Team
“’Look what you did, you little jerk’ from Home Alone.” – Domenique Schmitt, Administrative Team
“Going up to Ohio for a few weeks to see family and going to a Browns game. Favorite line is ‘Put that cookie down. NOW!’ from Jingle All The Way, which is the greatest Christmas movie ever, if you were wondering.” – Joe Pihlblad, Design Team
“Going to Puerto Rico to surf and bake myself in the sun and my favorite lines are, ‘You serious Clark?’ and ‘Eddie … If I woke up tomorrow with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn’t be more surprised than I am now.’ Both of which are from the classic,National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” – Peter Viele, Executive Editor
“I don’t travel over the Christmas break so I help out friends with pet sitting during the holidays. I feel like Santa on Christmas day as I drive around visiting all the good little cats and dogs and sending pictures to their human families from them. My favorite holiday movie line is from How the Grinch Stole Christmas: ‘Maybe Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas … perhaps … means a little bit more!'” Karen Brown, Technology Team
“For Christmas I plan to spend as much time as possible with my family. My favorite quote from a Christmas movie is ‘Just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist’ – Charlie, from The Santa Clause.” – Erin Meyer-Cuno, Design Team
“I can’t think of my favorite line, but I am going to dress my cats up in Christmas sweaters.” – Amanda Pudney, Administrative Team
