Nothing Like Great Beer and Mouth-Watering Pizza to Bring a Community Together!

Greet Mill Creek recently gathered with some of our neighbors and local business owners for a memorable evening of catching up with old friends and making new ones over pizza and beer. Our generous host was none other than Matt Pereira, owner and brewer of 4 Stitch Brewing Company, who provided a complimentary first pint to all who attended. And since nothing pairs with beer quite like pizza, Elliott Bay Pizza & Pub was kind enough to provide a wonderful variety of the mouth-watering appetizers, pizzas, and salads they have become known for in their long history of serving our community!

Matt and his wife, Dena, started 4 Stitch Brewing out of their garage in Bothell after Matt’s hobby, which began in 2007, grew from Matt brewing beers in a large pot on the kitchen stove to a kettle in the garage. By 2021, the couple had so many friends and family clamoring for their beers they converted their 3-car garage into a 1 BBL nano-brewery and taproom, which quickly became the neighborhood hangout. As Matt says, “We had no idea how fun it would be or how fast it would grow! Clearly, every neighborhood needs its own brewery.”

In April of 2023, they took a leap of faith and opened a full-scale, 5 BBL microbrewery and family-friendly taproom in Mill Creek, which is where we gathered for our event. The space is around 1700 square feet with the brewery taking up a little over 500 square feet in the back. “We’ve also got an outdoor patio which is a great place to relax with a beer in the summertime,” says Matt, “and basketball enthusiasts and their kids can enjoy the outdoor hoop off the patio that our son pushed for and split the cost of with the neighboring health club.”

With its gorgeous used-brick bar, warm wooden tables, and industrial-style open ceiling and concrete floors, our guests loved the family and dog-friendly vibe here and were greeted by Matt’s own Goldendoodle, Barley. Matt loves trying new styles and flavors of beer, even making a raspberry blonde last summer that was amazing! He rotates beers often and always has around 10 on tap, along with three ciders. One brew you will always find here is Lil’ Sweets, a Citra IPA Matt named after their daughter, whose nickname is ‘Sweets’. Another favorite is Swing Oil, a crisp IPA he brewed last year for a charity golf tournament for Colton’s Army. “It flew off the shelves, so I just brewed another large batch,” he says.

As for food, they only offer small snacks, so Matt encourages guests to bring their own or take advantage of one of the fantastic food trucks he rotates in and out. For our event, we were lucky enough to have Taylor Glass, Manager and part-owner of Elliott Bay Pizza & Pub, provide us with a great spread of apps, pizzas, and salads. Taylor’s parents Wayne and Kelly Glass started the business back in 1996 and opened their Mill Creek location in 2003. “We make our own pizza dough and a lot of our own sauces and toppings,” says Taylor, “and also use a delicious blend of mozzarella cheeses.” With her brother-in-law handling the beer menu, which includes 20 taps that rotate almost daily, it’s truly a family affair. From its large pizzas to its subs, calzones, and pasta dishes, there is something for everyone, and we thank Taylor again for giving us a taste of what we can expect!

Here's what our guests thought of their experience...

We tried the Hawaiian and the Elliot Bay Special pizzas for dinner. There was no skimping on the delicious cheese. The 'Special' had a terrific balance of toppings to dough. I'm sure I'll be craving more by morning. For my pint, I tried the North + Northwest IPA. It was very light in taste. I loved it and didn't feel weighed down - leaving more room to drink more!"  -Combined review from Galina and Dave P. from Mill Creek, WA

"I tried the Strawberry Cider by Grizzly Ciderworks. It was a little sweet, but not too much and still a strong apple flavor alongside the strawberry. It was served with a smile and expert help with my choice. I really enjoyed the Hawaiian. I loved the fluffy, bready crust and the great texture throughout." - Jenny Norris, Experience Momentum, Sponsor of Greet Mill Creek

"I tried the Amber & "Darkness" Stout. Both were delicious! Matt makes excellent beer! We also love Elliott Bay Pizza. Tonight, we had their 'Special' pizza and Pepperoni. We have gone there before for trivia night - very fun! They have a great staff!" - Cathy C. from Mill Creek, WA

"The Amber Ale had a smooth and well-rounded palette. The Strawberry Cider was nice and light. For my 2nd pour, I mixed 3/4 Strawberry Cider with 1/4 of the Lavender Cider - great combo!" - Eleonore H. from Mill Creek, WA

"The Boston Street pizza was a great veggie pizza! Not too heavy on the cheese and I loved the artichokes!" - Rick Z. from Mill Creek, WA
